Samuel Wesley Griffin Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. Samuel Wesley Griffin, Jr. will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at New Sunrise Baptist Church, Otis, with Reverend Larry Laurent officiating. Interment will follow in Burrough Cemetery, Otis, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.
Mr. Griffin, 75, of Hicks, entered eternal rest on Friday, March 15, 2024.
Samuel was a loving husband, pop, and "old fart." He was a proud member of the United States Army and served to two tours in Vietnam. He was a cross-country truck driver for several years. He loved the Lord, and was a member of New Sunrise Baptist Church. He enjoyed cooking and eating, watching westerns, and sitting on his porch. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Wesley Griffin, Sr., and Nettie Viola Butler; his wife and mother of his children, Elaine Griffin; and his previous wife, Debbie Griffin.
Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his children, Rickey Pelt of Hineston, Belinda Lucy Clark (Allan) of Elmer, and Penny Clark (Sam) of Elmer; his siblings, Rodney Griffin of Pineville, John Griffin of Pineville, Becky DeVore of Texas, Jennifer Beaudin of Texas, John Smith of Leander, and Wilma Gene Smith of Leander; eight grandchildren, Ricky D. Pelt (Crystal) of Leesville, Andrew Cody Pelt (Megan) of Hineston, Kayla Kinnabrew (John) of Shreveport, Courtney Pelt of Leesville, Sloan Clark of Elmer, Jasmine Pelt of Hineston, Tabitha Clark of Elmer, and Sean Clark of Elmer; fourteen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation will be held at New Sunrise Baptist Church, Otis, on Sunday, March 17, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Ricky Pelt, Cody Pelt, Carl Micheal Dubois, Red Pickering, Sloan Clark, and Rusty Skeeles. Honorary pallbearer will be Courtney Pelt.
