Samuel Haley, a decorated Vietnam veteran and retired Air Force serviceman, passed away at the age of 90 on December 15, 2025. He served his country with honor for over 20 years, which included a tour of duty in Vietnam, earning the respect and admiration of his peers.
Sam was born on May 30, 1935, in
Alexandria, VA. He was the son of Samuel Haley and Helen Haley, and was educated in the Virginia school system.
From his early years, Sam developed the character and values that would guide him throughout his life.
A proud graduate of Weber State University, Sam had a deep love for literature, particularly enjoying the works of Stephen King. He also had a passion for sports, cheering on the 49ers in football and the Los Angeles Lakers in basketball. Beyond sports, Sam loved recreational fishing, cooking, playing chess, and traveling on memorable trips to places like Paris.
In addition to his professional and personal accomplishments, Sam dedicated 15 years of his life to the Millcreek Youth Center, where he made a lasting difference in the lives of many young men, guiding them toward brighter futures.
Sam's personality was full of life. He had a natural charisma, a sharp intelligence, and a steady presence that made others feel safe and understood. Throughout his life, Sam took care of many people, offering support, guidance, and quiet strength whenever it was needed.
Sam was also deeply loved by his longtime companion, Danielle, and they were united in marriage.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen, and father, Samuel.
He was survived by his wife Danielle, son Samuel Haley III, Jeremy Haley, and daughter Lynn Crawford, grandchildren Laurelin Spencer, Jackson Crawford, Lawrence Horn, and Gabby Haley.
Funeral services entrusted to Myers Mortuary on Friday, December 26th, at 4 p.m. at 845 Washington Boulevard,
Ogden, Utah, 84404. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral service, from 2:00 p.m. - 3:35 p.m. at the same address.
