Mr. Samuel Winthrop Harden Sr. was born on July 22, 1934 to Samuel Neal & Georgia Harden McGinty in Atlanta, Georgia. He entered eternal rest on Sunday, August 17, 2025.
Mr. Harden grew up in the Vine City area of Atlanta, graduated from Booker T. Washington High and briefly attended Clark Atlanta University. He left Clark to enlist and serve in the United States Army. After leaving the army, he worked in the delivery and warehouse professions.
In his childhood years, he attended Mount Vernon Baptist Church with his grandmother Lillie Swillings. On Father's Day in 2015, he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior while attending Mt. Paran Church with his son Samuel Jr. and daughter in law Kiko.
Mr. Harden had a great love for music and had a vast collection of albums and cds. His love for music inspired his children and he helped them to acquire their own music collections. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends talking about the "good old days".
Mr. Harden resided in the Fairburn Heights area of Atlanta for many years, where he was well known. Over two years ago, he relocated to PruittHealth Care Center in Austell because of health issues.
In addition to his parents and grandmother, he was preceded in death by his step father Wallace McGinty; uncle and aunt Wallies and Serese Williams; daughters, Toni Calhoun and Cora (Cookie) Sanders; and granddaughters, LaKesa Stafford, LaShanta (Reesie) Wright and LaTrice Sanders.
Mr. Harden, who was formerly married to the late Mary Harden, leaves to cherish his memory, daughter Pamela Rogers (Paul); son Samuel Harden Jr. (Kiko); son in law Vincent Sanders; granddaughter LaQuesha Shanee Miller (Lydell); grandsons Rev. Termalo Stafford and Ellis Wright; great granddaughters Simone Burgess and Arielle Miller and great grandson Vincent Wright, along with a host of other family members and friends.
