Samuel (Sandy) Lee Jackson passed away peacefully on the early morning of May 31, 2024, with his loving brother Henry by his side, Samuel suffered a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
Samuel was born November 11, 1958, in Winchester Va, to the late Mrs. Helen Jackson-Hawkins. He attended school for a short time in Winchester Va., before moving to Belle Glade, Florida where he attended 2nd and 3rd grade. Samuel along with his mother and siblings relocated to Utica from Belle Glade, Florida. in May 1971. At that time, he attended Roscoe Conkling Elementary school and Proctor High School.
Samuel was a member of Solid Rock Church under the leadership of his brother-in-Law, Elder Gregory Brown and his Sister Rev. Cornelia Jackson-Brown. Samuel worked at Minute Car Cash in Utica for over 15 years. In 2012 he started working for the traveling fairs and carnivals in the New York areas and several locations in Virgina.
Most of all Samuel loved his music, he was very active by way of providing music for parties, and other community events, out of the goodness of his heart. He just loved to DJ, which is why he was given the name "DJ Jamming Sammy".
Samuel leaves to cherish his memories his children: Samuel Lee Jackson, Jr., Emmanuel Lilley, Sybel (Joseph) Lilley-Lentini, Erica Palmer-Blonco, Mary Files and Angie Lee Jackson; brothers: Henry R. Jackson, (Ogdensburg, NY) Jonathan K. (Becky Monroe )Jackson ( Utica NY); sisters: Reverend Cornelia (Gregory) Jackson-Brown (Rome, NY); Helen Christine (Irvin Gary) Jackson (Utica, NY); Aunt Margaret (Harold) Bartlett-Williams (New London, CT); Uncle Edward W. (Otha) Jackson (Clinton, NY); Aunt Judy Jackson-Zeber (Utica, NY); cousins Edward W. (Rhonda) Jackson, Jr., Albert (Hazel)Jackson, Jr.; Betty Jackson and Dennis Jackson; God-brother ; Kevin Jefferson, God-Sister Diane Nichols. God Brother Larry Jones and special friend Yvonne Lilley-Melchor; as well as a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and very dear friends.
Samuel is predeceased by son Timothy Teto Jackson, daughter Helen Christine Jackson, his loving Mother Helen Christine Jackson-Hawkins and Stepfather Bobby Hawkins; Grandfather Squire Jackson, Grandmother Frances Cornelia Jackson-Roberts, Step-Grandfather Walter Roberts, Great Grandmother Annie Jackson, Great Grandmother Pearl Jackson, Uncle Albert (Virgina) Jackson, Uncle Charles Jackson, Uncle Johnny Morris, Aunt Lucille Morris-Thompson, Aunt Ruth (Joseph) Jackson-Forrest, cousins Barbara Jackson, Linda Jackson-Vetrano, Jennifer Jackson and Myles Jackson.
The family would like to acknowledge their sincere appreciation to all those who extended their support, calls, visits and expressions of sympathy and love during our time of loss. A special "thank you" to the staff of the Claxton Hepburn Medical Center.
