Samuel Austin Jackson Sr.

Samuel Austin Jackson, Sr. was born April 2, 1942 to Pastor Andrew and

Mrs. Aimee Coleman Jackson in Mobile, AL. He departed this life for eternity

on Friday, December 26, 2025.

Sam Jackson was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1959, after which

he furthered his education at Alabama A&M University. During his time both

in high school and college he was known as "Stormy Weather" for his

incredible trumpet playing skill that would "blow you out of the stadium".

After his time at the university, he worked as a supervisor at Scott Paper

Company where he retired after decades of dedicated service.

He was a loving and devoted father to Ms. Aimee V. Jackson-Walton, and Mr.

Samuel A. Jackson, Jr. He was married to his lifelong partner, Mrs. Gurley

Reed Jackson for nearly sixty years.

Mr. Samuel A. Jackson was a Christian from an early age. He attended St.

Louis Steet Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.

Samuel was also an avid sports enthusiast, as a fan of New Orleans Saints

football and pro-tennis and golf, an HBCU supporter, and maintained an

extensive hat collection as evidence of these interests. Sam was an all-around

family man serving as a father figure, patriarch, and protector for his family.

Samuel was an excellent provider for his wife and children and did his best to

help other family members in times of need. He was someone you could depend

on in times of trouble, and someone who would celebrate you in times of

success. He was proud of his family and their achievements.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pastor Andrew and Mrs. Aimee

Coleman Jackson; his wife Mrs. Gurley Reed Jackson; his brother, Mr. Andrew

Jackson; his sister, Ms. Jacqueline Jackson; and his son, Mr. Sameul A.

Jackson, Jr.

Sam Jackson leaves to cherish his legacy and precious memories, his devoted

daughter and caretaker, Ms. Aimee V. Jackson-Walton; his only grandchild,

Ms. Ashley T. Walton; his only great-grandchild, Ashilynn D. Long; his

devoted caretaker and niece, Ms. Paquita Jackson; his niece, Ms. Andrietta

Jackson; his nephews: Travis Bradley, Jauran, Andrew, Donald, Ronald, Requel

and Romone Jackson; his devoted great-niece, Ms. Kimberly D. Bell and her

two daughters: Rae and Kristen Bell; his great-niece Mrs. Angel (Cedric)

Dunklin and her children; his devoted caretaker, Mr. Roderick Williams; along

with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other family

members and friends.
