With deep affection and respect, we remember the life of Samuel David Levy, known fondly to his friends and family as Sam. Born on January 24, 1991, in Edina, Minnesota, Sam lived a vibrant life until his passing on August 10, 2025. He was a luminous soul, who embraced his journey with an open heart. His sparkling blue eyes and 1,000-watt smile lit up a room. He was loyal and compassionate, meeting with friends in need at any hour. He did not take friendship lightly. But, alas, Sam's journey, which ended too soon, is also a cautionary tale. Sam was a cherished son to his father, Paul Levy, who survives him, and his mother, Patricia Levy, who preceded him in death. His relationship with his parents was marked by love and laughter, but was also challenging. Sam was a gifted athlete, guitarist, and video photographer. He loved baseball, skateboarding, riding his bicycle, rooting for the Minnesota Wild, and cooking -- often for dozens of his co-workers, which was his way of forging a strong community. Sam also suffered from bouts of depression and from poor lifestyle choices. His battles with addiction haunted him for much of his life and deeply hurt family, as well as friends. However, for every squandered opportunity, there were new adventures awaiting. For better or worse, Sam always was a daredevil. His unique personality, unwavering loyalty, and genuine kindness made him a beacon of light to his family and friends. His loss will leave an irreplaceable void, yet his family and friends will treasure the positive memories and are praying that he is now at peace. Sam was well-loved by his colleagues for his hard work, infectious humor, and unwavering commitment to making each day better than the last. He resided in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is also survived by his sister, Sarah Levy; bonus mother Chanda Levy; bonus sisters Amani Johnson and Aneisa Fitzgerald; and several cousins, uncles and aunts. Mishlei (Proverbs) 28:13 reminds us that "one who conceals his sins will not succeed, but he who confesses and forsakes them will be granted mercy." Our prayer is that Sam's life will serve as a sobering reminder, and warning, to know and believe the word of God and faithfully follow it. We invite you to share your memories of Sam, and upload photos to the memorial page in tribute to his remarkable life. We are grateful for the time we had with him, and he will forever be missed. Shalom and blessings.
