Samuel J. Locklear, 89, passed away on November 27, 2024. He was born in Pembroke, North Carolina to the late Felton and Lizzie Locklear. In addition to his parents, he was predecased by his wife, Maxine W. Locklear and second wife, Rose W. Locklear; daughter, Monica Denise Walker; sisters, Edna Lee Locklear and Arlene Locklear Faile; a nephew, Timothy Locklear, and a special sister-in-law, Iris Maynor Locklear. Sam proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy as a member of the Seabees.
Sam was employed by E.T. Gresham Company, Inc. for 39 years as a General Superintendent, Industrial Services. Golfing and fishing with friends and family were his favorite recreational activities. Sam was a member of the Norview Masonic Lodge #113 for 33 years and was raised to Master Mason on August 16, 1991.
Sam and Julie met at a seniors group and decided they did not want to live alone any longer. They enjoyed 12 years of marriage. Sam is survived by his wife, Julie and the following family members, step-son, James E. Oakley, Jr. and his wife, Jenifer; step-grandson, James E. Oakley, III; stepdaughters, Lynette Roesch, Sharon Roesch Bivens, and Brenda Roesch; a son-in-law, John Walker IV; brothers, Holland B. Locklear, Jimmy Ray Locklear, Jerry Locklear and wife, Dottie; and many nieces and nephews whom Sam loved dearly.
A memorial service will be held at 12 PM, Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6001 Granby St., Norfolk with Pastor Matt Doebler officiating. The family would like to thank Miss Emma and Maddie from "Emma's Home" who lovingly cared for Sam in his last days. Graham Funeral Home & Crematory, Chesapeake will be caring for arrangements.
