Obituary of Samuel Eugene Lomanto
Sam, Butch, Lomanto passed away on June 16, 2024 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He was a third-generation farmer in San Benito County. His family lived on Orchard Road when he was young, and he ended up living there after he was married to Janet for 58 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Marjorie Lomanto. He is survived by his wife Janet, his son, Sammy (Krystal), Tanner (Nicolette), Dylan Lomanto, his daughter Tracey (Daniel), Austin (Marissa), and Miranda McDonnell, his sister Cookie Felice and her family.
In his younger day he raced motorcycles with his Uncle Johnny and cousin Chuck Lomanto. He loved to hunt birds with his dog Duke, who also rode the motorcycle with him. He went deer hunting every year with his uncles and cousins. The deer he shot still hangs above his fireplace sixty years later and has been the source of many tales with his grandchildren. He loved deep sea fishing with his best friend Joe Gomes. He enjoyed making cioppino with Joe every Christmas Eve for the family. In 1982, he started Lomanto Nut Shelling where he processed walnuts. He always wanted a Corvette, so finally he bought one and enjoyed driving it on trips. He also got a 1934 Ford Sedan that he took to a few shows.
Graveside services will be held June 27th at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery with a celebration of life to follow at Paine's Restaurant.
The Family wishes to thank Rose Baldonado of Ardent Senior Care, especially Karen Eslabra, Rodine Newton, and Home Connect Hospice.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association

Butch grafted most my Walnut trees. Butch did this because he was a good person and knew I knew nothing about growing Walnuts. I told him when the trees got bigger, he could have all the walnuts because he grafted the trees. When I did bring him the Walnuts every year I got a check in the mail for the walnuts. Butch was a good man. I used to love to tell him jokes as he was a great audience for me. One time I disguised my voice and called Butch on the telephone and inquired about some firewood he had for sale on the corner of Fairview and Fallon Road, the firewood was contained in a metal "U" shaped frame. He was asking for $150.00 dollars for the firewood. The voice I used was that of a very old woman, I asked how much for the firewood he replied $150.00 dollars, I responded like I did not hear what he said, $15.00 Dollars that seems awful high, asked him how much without the metal frame, Butch said the metal frame does not come with the firewood and the firewood is $150.00 Dollars , I said you want $150.00 Dollars for the firewood without the "U" shaped metal frame my goodness sure seems like A lot of Money, Butch responded "YOU KNOW MAM THIS IS 1989" So I said thank you for your time too expensive for me. Have A great day goodbye. Hung up. Butch later on found out it was me and we had a great laugh. R.I.P. Butch you deserve A Rest in heaven. Thanks' for the memories Pete Mirrione.
