Batavia - Samuel J. Lovria, Jr. 84 of Batavia and formerly of Le Roy passed away on Monday (March 16, 2026) at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia.

Sam was born December 23, 1941 in Batavia, a son of the late Samuel J. Lovria, Sr. and Theresa (Tiberio) Lovria.

Sam was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in Batavia. He went on to attend Simmons Institute of Mortuary Science in Syracuse. He was a New York State Licensed Funeral Director and the longtime owner of Lovria's Memorial Chapel in Le Roy.

He was a former parishioner of St. Joseph's Church in Le Roy, a member of the Knights of Columbus in Le Roy, and the Oatka Fire & Hose Co. In his free time, Sam enjoyed most things outdoors, including hunting, fishing, boating, and traveling.

Surviving are his siblings, Dominic (Janet) Lovria, Richard (Denise) Lovria, and Robert (Mary Beth) Lovria all of Batavia, Joseph (Sherri) Lovria of Alexander, and James (Frances) Lovria of Clearwater, Florida. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Honoring Sam's wishes, no services will be held. He will be entombed in St. Joseph's Mausoleum in Batavia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith in Practice (please indicate "Dr. Parsley's Team) at https://www.faithinpractice.org/give/ or Notre Dame High School at https://www.ndhsbatavia.com/give.html.
