Samuel Morris Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 5, 2025.
Samuel G. Morris, known affectionately as Sam to his friends and family, passed away on November 1, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on April 12, 1946, Sam was a man of great courage, love, and skill, whose hands could as easily lay a carpet as they could steer a boat through the waves.

Sam's early years were spent in Pine Hill, NJ, where he grew up surrounded by the love and camaraderie of his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Judi (nee Rowland), with whom he shared nearly 60 years of marriage, a milestone they were just months shy of celebrating. His life was also enriched by the presence of his siblings, Caroline Crosby and the late Nancy Morris, as well as his late brother, Bill Morris. Sam's nieces, Tracy Corbett and Dawn Clark, and nephews, Billy Crosby, Sammy Crosby, and David Ward, will remember their uncle as a man who lived his values and served as a role model for all.

Sam's commitment to his country was evident through his service in the US Army during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he returned home and established a successful career as a self-employed carpet layer, a trade that showcased his meticulous nature and craftsmanship.

Beyond his professional life, Sam was an avid boater and golfer. He cherished the moments spent on the water with Judith. Golfing was another passion that Sam enjoyed with his friends and his wife, a pastime that allowed him to forge lasting friendships and revel in the outdoors.

Sam's legacy is one of love, resilience, and the joy of a life well-lived. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. As we bid farewell to Samuel G. Morris, we celebrate the indelible mark he has left on this world and the lives he touched. He will be deeply missed, but the stories of his courage, love, and kindness will continue to inspire us all.

A Graveside Service will take place on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at 1:30 PM at Gloucester County Veteran's Cemetery, 240 N. Tuckahoe Rd., Williamstown, NJ. Memorial donations can be made to: American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741 or cancer.org/donate.
