Samuel Naples Obituary

Samuel John Naples, 67, of Jamesville, passed away on Friday, January 23. Sam lived life on the edge and to the fullest, complete with what his family lovingly referred to as his "obnoxious attitude." It was part of his charm his belief that life was meant to be enjoyed, preferably with family and friends by his side.
Sam spent many years in the auto industry, where he was widely known and respected. Beginning his career as a salesman, he became the number one salesperson before moving into management. He spent the majority of his career with FX Caprara. Outside of work and after retirement, Sam enjoyed riding his Harley, working on his Corvette, and spending time on woodworking projects. He especially loved his dog, Rando, and he cherished the time he spent with his friends. Above all, Sam wanted to take care of the people around him. He always made sure everyone was included and having a good time. Though he is gone, Sam would want his family and friends to raise a beer, share a laugh, and toast to a life lived to the fullest.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Samantha Naples; and parents, Rocco and Joyce Naples.
Survivors include his children, Keith Naples, Briana (Joseph) Grosso, and Stephanie Naples (Timothy Zdimal); siblings, Allen (Betsy) Naples, Rocco (Suzanne) Naples, and Mary (Jeffrey) Daly; grandchildren, Olivia and Cole Naples and Francesca, Joseph, and Daniella Grosso, as well as baby Asher Zdimal on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 2nd from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at FARONE & SON, Inc. Funeral Home, 1500 Park Street, Syracuse.

Yesterday

Sam, we were so lucky to grow up together in the Jamesville Southwood neighborhood. The families and friends we share are a blessing. Playing football and basketball are great memories. You are missed but never forgotten.

Sam was a neighbor and friend from a young age. He always lived life to the fullest. He will be missed! My condolences go out to the family and all his friends.

Sam was a wonderful neighbor. Just over the holiday, he randomly plowed our driveway unprompted. He always stopped by the summer when we were working outside as he was passing by on his Harley or corvette. We've shared some great stories. To us, Sam was the type of person that appeared when you least expect it (although the sound of the various engines provided a hint). He was always offering a helping hand, and always interested in his neighborhood. He was a "fixture" that provided that sense of community. We will miss him very much. Sending our thoughts to Sam's family (whom I have heard a lot about, but never had the pleasure to meet). Sam had a far reaching impact on so many, ourselves included. Rest in peace old friend.

I am very sad after having just read Sam's obituary on Syracuse.com. I was a classmate of Sam's and remember him for always having a great outlook on life. We weren't close friends, but we were always friendly with each other in the classes we took together and as teammates. I also remember being on the freshman football team with him and how hard he worked every practice.
Lastly, I am extra sad that Sam passed before our 50-year reunion at J-D. I was looking forward to seeing him there and hearing about the wonderful family he had and all the great things he did in his life.
I offer my condolences to his family and friends.

Please accept my deepest sympathy for the family on Sam's passing. Although I was not a close friend, he brought many people into my life with whom I have shared precious memories and love. Unfortunately, I will be out of the country and cannot participate in his wake or funeral but I will be there in spirit.
