Samuel Richard Needham Sr.

Andover VA Samuel Richard Needham Sr, 82, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife and children. He was born in Roda, VA to his parents Elsie Carter Needham and William Needham. He was the youngest of 11 children. He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Big Stone Gap, VA. He was a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather. His greatest joys in life were his children and grandchildren. He was a military veteran who served in the United States Army. Sam was a retired maintenance supervisor and project manager. Sam and his wife Judy traveled extensively visiting all 48 continental states and many American landmarks. He lived in Andover, VA where he and Judy raised their family. He was preceded in death by his son Jason Needham. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Judy Christian Needham; daughters Natalie Green (Sammy), Karen Needham Eaton (Mike Burnette), Jennifer Needham (Melissa); and son Samuel Richie Needham Jr. He had 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Roy A. GreenFuneral Home with services following in the funeral home chapel officiated by AllenSponaugle. Military graveside rites will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2025 at American Legion Cemetery. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home at 12:00 noon for the procession to the cemetery.
