NELSON, Samuel L. – of Millington and Spruce, Michigan, age 63, died peacefully on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Medilodge of Grand Blanc. Honoring his wishes, cremation will be taking place. A Celebration of Sam's Life will be held at a later date.
Samuel was born on August 7, 1960, in Flint, Michigan, to Emmett and Evelyn (Mason) Nelson. He graduated from Millington High School with the class of 1979. Sam married Gail Smalley, and together they had two children - Joe, and Alisha. He later married Loreta Reubal on December 6, 2022. Sam was a caregiver with Northeast Michigan Community Mental Health for over 25 years. He also owned a floor cleaning business for several years and did bodywork and paint restoration on vehicles. Sam was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and attended the Kingdom Hall in Alpena. He loved grilling and was an avid fisherman. Sam loved all people and always helped in any way he could. He will always be remembered for his loving and kindhearted nature.
Surviving are: Wife, Loreta Nelson; Son, Joe Nelson; Daughter, Alisha Howard; Grandchildren: Genesis and Jazaniah; Mother, Evelyn Nelson; Sister, Sarah (Steve) Simpkins; Nephew, Cory Simpkins; Niece, Kelsey (Daniel) Porath; Great-nephew, Connor Porath; Aunts and Uncles: Carol Scribner, Bob (Sue) Mason, Margie Glick, and Marion (Bob) McKenzie; Many other loving family members and dear friends.
