Samuel "Sam" Lee Armstrong, age 71, of Mankato passed away on Wednesday, October 16th, 2024.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato, Minnesota. Livestream of the service will be available at www.mankatomortuary.com.
Samuel was born on February 5th, 1953, to Samuel and Dorothy Armstrong, the seventh of their ten children, in Nashville Tennessee. He attended St. Vincent Elementary and Father Ryan High School in his youth. Upon graduating high school Sam moved to Minnesota to pursue a degree in higher education. A proud graduate of Mankato State University with a Baccalaureate degree, he then worked for MRCI for several years before retiring.
Sam was an avid watcher of sports, especially his new hometown teams, the Minnesota Vikings, and Minnesota Twins. He was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church for many years, and hardly missed a mass.
Sam is survived by his stepchildren, Kaylene (Jamie) Kolles, and Samuel Jaluke; step-grandchildren, Aiden and Mason; siblings, Sandra Smith, Kenneth (Kathy) Armstrong, Sharon (Greg) Carter, and Stephen (Lucretia) Armstrong as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, and sister in-law Laura Armstrong.
Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; parents, Samuel and Dorothy; siblings, Ronald (Yvonne) Armstrong, Ovis (Peggy) Armstrong, Larry (Patty) Armstrong, Bonita Armstrong, Tanja Armstrong, and brother in-law William Smith.
