Samuel Grant Savage, 83, of Oakland, MD, passed away on December 2, 2022, in Fredericksburg, VA. Born on August 30, 1939, in Oakland, he was the son of the late Thomas Ward and Della Ann (Rhodeheavor) Savage.
Samuel proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. He worked for Virginia Power Company as an Electrician. After moving back to Oakland, he spent the summers working on the road to his home and the winters plowing it. He loved four-wheeler riding, fishing and hunting. He loved spending time with his family and proudly singing the song "Who Let the Dogs Out" to bring smiles and laughter to them.
He is survived by two sons, Warren Kim Savage and Steven Grant Savage; four daughters, Regina (Savage) Calhoun, Karen (Savage) Berry, Crystal Bohrer and Kimmy Stein; eight grandchildren, William Collins and wife Sara, Robert Collins, Kristie Johnson and boyfriend Daniel, Brittney Holliday and husband Eric, Logan Zinn, Brandy Luciano, Christopher Horton, and Steven Savage and fiancee Mandelynn; thirteen great-grandchildren, Jared Southern, Justin Collins, Keystin Johnson, Tyrek Johnson, Kizmie Johnson, Samantha Luciano, Cameron Luciano, Harley Evans, Fate Holliday, Gauge Luciano, Anikyn Horton, Kiyan Horton and Brett Whisman; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Savage, on September 18, 2004; a daughter, Debra Savage; a grandson, Bradley Savage; siblings, Bill Savage, Robert Savage, Leota Savage, Ward Savage, Woody Savage, Della Barrillo, Martha Lawton and Donald Savage.
Friends will be received on Thursday, December 8, 2022, from 4 to 7 PM at C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St. Oakland, MD 21550. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on December 9, 2022, in the funeral home with Rev. David Davis and Rev. Ruth Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
