I had the pleasure of working for Sam when he manage Sebastian´s Vineyards! Good fortune fell my way when I again worked for him during his years at Viansa!
Sam was a dear friend a wonderful human being, who was greatly loved and admired!
Rest in peace!

Sam was a good family friend and will be missed by all. My condolences to the entire Sebastiani family. I know that many have some great stories of hunting and social events. We will miss him. God Bless

I worked at the Viansa winery from 1991 to 2007. I started part time then became full time. What a great education. Italian wines, Italian lessons and a wonderful man to learn from, Sam Sebastiani. His many stories, his love for wetlands, and his dedication to his employees. I of course wish only the best to the Sebastiani family, for the loss of Sam. He was a mentor to me, who I will always remember.

Sam was not only an extremely knowledgeable person, he was yet extremely 'open to learning'.... we had many conversations about the creativity of human beings , and Sam was always like a 'child full of wonder' when he'd learn about new facets of creativity and accomplishments of others. In a community often dominated by 'accomplished folks WITH AN ATTITUDE'... Sam was 'accomplished'..but absent the 'attitude'. It was a great pleasure knowing him. Thom Swain, Sonoma

A short term experience, but I remember thinking to myself, I could work happily for this Man, anytime, anywhere. Thanks for that Sam.
God Bless.

A great friend to Gary and me for many years! We spent hours in the kitchen talking and cooking and enjoying fun times, going to Mexico on a boat with their family, parties at Viansa, and Gary´s and Sam´s outing together every Friday to spend time over lunch and fun!!! We missed his friendship in the later years but never stopped loving him and his family! I know there will be so many wonderful memories people will share about Sam and all he did for preservation, family, friends, the wine industry, and his love of dogs!!! Thanks to Vicki for taking such good care of him in the beginning years I Knew him, and Robin in the later! I know he was a happy man surrounded by love! RIP and have a drink with Gary at the mahogany bar around the corner in the pearly gates!!!! Love, Boo

Sam was a good man with a big heart. I vividly remember the day some 40+ years ago when I was a young mother struggling to walk a tired and resistant toddler home down Spain Street in Sonoma and Sam kindly offered me -then a complete stranger- a ride home. To this day, I fondly recall that generosity. May the goodness that Sam generated permeate this world for a long time to come! Blessings to his soul and to all the family and friends who are grieving this loss.

Rest in peace, Sam. Your passion for winemaking in Sonoma County, a legacy that spanned three generations, touched the hearts of many. The gods surely have a special place for you, just as you held a deep love for the enchanting world of wine. Your spirit will forever inspire those who cherish the craft.
