Samuel Joseph Solomon

Sam was born and raised in Detroit. At the age of 15 he began running upholstery jobs out of his garage. He built that into a successful restaurant seating and equipment business that he ran for the rest of his life, serving business owners with his trademark grit and honesty.

While his commitment to his business was strong, his commitment to his family was even stronger. He met the love of his life Cathy at the age of 15. Together, they built a large and loving family. Sam was known to check in with his children and grandchildren on a daily basis, a constant presence in the lives of his loved ones.

He lived a life defined by generosity, unwavering strength, and a profound love for his family. His first instinct was always to take care of those around him. His voice could fill a room and his opinions were never hidden, but honest, bold, and unapologetic. Beneath that strength was a heart that sought to comfort, protect, and steady others.

He was a leader trusted, respected, and followed not because he demanded it, but because he inspired it. His presence was immense, eclipsed only by the size of his heart. Those who knew him will carry his echo into eternity, a reminder of a man whose love and character will never fade.

Samuel leaves behind his wife, Catherine, children; Melissa (Thomas) Jenkins, Joseph (Jamie) Solomon, AnnMarie (Matthew) Kruczysnki, Catherine (Eric) Ramaekers, Margaret (Allie) Saad; his grandchildren, Ryan, Isabel, Violet, Isabelle, Josephine, Lyla, Millie, Harlow, Lucas, Samuel, Caleb, Ezra, Musa, and a baby girl on the way; and his sister Diana Choiniere.

Samuel is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Norma Dean; and his brother David.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, November 13th 2025 at Wujek Calcaterra Funeral Home 36900 Schoenherr Rd, Sterling Heights, MI 48312 from 3pm-9pm.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, November 14th 2025 at St. Peter Catholic Church 95 Market St. Mt Clemens, MI 48043. Visitation at 9:30am and Mass at 10:30am.
