I was a student under Dr. Squibb in inorganic chemistry in the early 1970's. I'm happy to say I held a 99% average in his course. Dr. Squibb wanted me to pursue his course in organic chemistry after that and double major in math and chemistry but I was, unfortunately, unable to do so. Upon graduation in 1975, I pursued a career in the US Navy and retired with the rank of LCDR in 1994, the same year Dr. Squibb retired as Chemistry Department Head. I will miss him very much.

To JoAnn and family,
We enjoyed Dexter's wit and intelligence, and his strength as he dealt with his medical issues. We met him through square dancing, and we will miss him.

Dr. Squibb was the last of the founding professors at Florida Presbyterian College, later re-named Eckerd College, where I was in the third class. He was beloved by the students there.
Later in life, we connected with one another through the alumni forum on google, and my husband and I had the pleasure of visiting with Dex and Joanne at the beach where they spent winters here in Florida.
Dex never failed to enjoy life or to learn new things. I was a dialysis nurse at one point in my life, and seeing his energy and drive, his wit and good cheer was a joy to us.
Our condolences to Joann and daughter Lavanne, whom I hope to see next year in Asheville.

We were so sad to hear of Dexter's passing. We will miss that Christmas card and that letter that was always enclosed, our dinners out and the wonderfully kind man he was...he was our precious neighbor and friend. We cared for him deeply! He will be missed so very much. Rest in Peace, dear neighbor!
