Samuel Wakefield Obituary
Sam was born on August 13, 1949, in Beech Groove, Indiana. His parents, Noel Miller and Dorothy Patrick Miller, as well as the mother of his children, Sandra Wakefield, all preceded him in death. Sam was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Army, where he served as a helicopter medic. Later, the helicopter was shot down and he was awarded a Purple Heart and Silver Star. Then Sam finished out his career as a driver for waste management. He was an expert cook and enjoyed doing yardwork.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Wakefield; children, Christie Wakefield and David Wakefield; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home followed by a funeral service in the chapel. Burial will be on Monday, December 8, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Sherwood Memorial Park in Jonesboro.
