Samuel R. Walter, 98, of Sebring, Florida passed away July 19, 2025. He was born February 19, 1927 in Mineral City, Ohio to The Rev. William and Mable (Thomas) Walter.
Samuel was a WWII US Army veteran, graduate of Sandy Valley High School of Magnolia-Waynesburg, Ohio. Over his lifetime he attended the Church of God of East Canton, Ohio and the Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Sebring, Florida. He was a longtime volunteer with Emmanuel’s Willing Workers. He gave of himself as a volunteer for the Good Shepherd Hospice of Sebring. He was richly blessed by his church family and his volunteer work. Inductee of the Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.
Samuel was preceded in death by his father, mother, seven brothers, four sisters, stepdaughter Shari, three wives: Charlotte, Nancy and Ann. Also, preceded by a gracious and loving longtime friend, Elaine. Survived by sons-daughters and their families: Sam, Jr. (Cassie), Bill (June), Susie (Mark), Mike, step-son Dave (Patti), step-daughter Robin (Joe) and step-son Greg (Juanita).
A private family graveside service with military honors will be held at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens, Canton, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, please donate in the name of Sam Walter to the Good Shepherd Hospice, 1110 Hammock Road, Sebring, FL 33870.
Arrangements are being handled by Morris Funeral Chapel in Sebring, FL and in Canton, OH the Karlo-Libby Funeral Home.
