Samuel R. Wiley 91, of Hilton Head Island, died Friday, January 8, 2026, at his residence.
Graveside Services: 11:00 AM Friday, January 16, 2026, at Union Cemetery, 19 Union Cemetery Road, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926.

Public Viewing: 4 to 6 PM Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Marshel's Wright-Donaldson Home For Funerals WHERE MASKS ARE REQUIRED FOR ENTRY!!!

Samuel Roosevelt Wiley, was born to the late Deacon Arthur E. and Julia Polite Wiley, on February 23, 1934, on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Born into a glorious family, "Sam", as he was affectionately called, was loved by all who knew him. As a child, he was adventurous and loved to tell stories. He was a member of St. James Baptist Church, where his father served as chairman of the Deacon Board, and Sam served as an Usher. He attended Cherry Hill School on Hilton Head Island and continued his education in New York, where he also maintained a professional career.

Sam returned to Hilt Head Island, was married to Rose Lawyer, and lived a happy life. Sam had a love for music and dancing and enjoyed good times with family and friends. He loved to reminisce on days of old with his siblings in his later life.

In addition to his parents, Sam is preceded in death his wife, Rose; his brothers: Moses, Eugene, Cyrus and James Wiley; his sisters: Victoria Wiley Woods, Romena Wiley, Margaret Wiley Adams, Mary Magdalene Wiley Bryant and Helen Miller.

Sam is survived by family members: son, David; his special niece and care-taker, Amanda; grandson, Elvin Williams; two sisters, Phoebe Wiley Driessen of Hilton Head Island and Martha Wiley Baker of Savannah, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

"Blessed Are They That Mourn, For They Shall Be Comforted." Please keep the Wiley Family in prayer as the accept God's will land prepare to celebrate the life and legacy of their beloved Samuel.
