Sandra Kay Abney

Sandra Kay Abney, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away suddenly on December 3, 2025, at her home in Mt. Vernon, Kentucky.
Sandra was preceded in death by her beloved parents, James and Freida Collins Toler, her daughter, Amy Nichole Abney, and her sister, Shirley Toler. Her memory will be forever cherished by her devoted husband, Michael Abney, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and companionship. She leaves behind her loving daughter, Amanda (Troy) Clark, and her precious grandchildren, Hannah and Hailey Clark, who were the light of her life. Sandra's legacy will also live on through her siblings, Ken Toler, Connie (Phillip) Smith, Vicky (Herman) Lainhart, and Jeff Toler, as well as many nieces and nephews, who will miss her deeply.
For many years, Sandra was a valued employee at Hitachi, where she worked in MRO. Her colleagues knew her as a dedicated and hardworking individual, always willing to lend a helping hand and share a kind word. She was a member of Valley Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and loved sharing that with others, as well as the many little Jesus' that she handed out.
Sandra had a passion for creating beauty in the world, which was evident in her love for quilting and crocheting. Above all, Sandra cherished the time spent with her family, especially her daughter and grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy and pride, and always looked forward to their girls-only trips to the beach.
Funeral services will be 2 PM, Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Lakes Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Lakes officiating. Burial will follow in the Davis Witt Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 pm to 8 pm on Saturday evening at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Junior Lainhart, Gerald Lainhart, Brian Lainhart, Jeff Toler, Josh Smith, Troy Clark, and Logan Smith.
