Sandra C. Burghardt

Sandra C Burghardt, 80, of Center Lisle, NY passed away peacefully at her home on January 1, 2026.

Sandra is predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Russell Burghardt, parents Walter and Madonna Shafer, brothers Mark, Donald, and William Shafer.

She is survived by her children Roger, David, and Terri (Anthony); grandchildren Tara, Katelyn (Jack), and Kevin; great-grandchildren Sierra and Lilyann; sister Sharon; and many loved nieces and nephews.

Sandra worked her entire career at Whitney Point Central Schools where she began her journey as a bus driver and eventually held several secretarial positions in principal, athletic, and guidance offices.

Sandra was an amazing mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter and friend. She found a way to celebrate and support all of her loved ones by attending and cheering at every sporting event, competition, concert, and award ceremony. She was the ultimate hostess of decades of chicken barbecues where friends and family always enjoyed laughter, food, cards, slip n slide, wiffle ball, kick ball, volleyball, horseshoes, and playing in the creek.

Sandra had a giving spirit as evidenced by her dedication to the Center Lisle Congregational Church where she coordinated many activities such as Thanksgiving dinners, pancake breakfasts, rummage and pie sales, and holiday activities. She also had creative hands that made the most beautiful quilts, cross-stitches, and even dresses for little girls crafted from pillowcases.

At Sandra's request, a private service will be held at Sunset Memorial Services.
