Grace Mary (Ross) Burghardt, 100, passed away February 3, 2026, at her home in Indianapolis, IN. She was born on January 26, 1926, in Milwaukee, WI, to the late James Ross and Margaret (Soergel) Ross. Grace was a loving mother of five, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many, who had many joys in life.
She loved the Lord, her fellowship, and reading the Bible. She also enjoyed fabric arts, including crocheting, knitting, sewing, as well as square dancing and spending time with friends. Her greatest joy in life was the time that she spent with her family, who will all miss her very much.
Grace was survived by her son, Robert (Janice) Burghardt; daughters, Jacquilyn (Roger) Hlavek and Debra Josi; sister, Lorraine Gruettner; her grandchildren, Matthew (Kayla) Josi, Beth McGrath, Michael (Emily) Hlavek, Kristen (Ricardo) Dela Cruz, Daniel Hlavek, Robert (Melinda) Burghardt, Charlotte (Mike) Jones, Jessica (Kevin) Zimdars; as well as 16 beloved great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Burghardt; daughter, Patricia Jager; and her son, Merrill Burghardt.
Family and friends are welcome to gather for a visitation on February 9, 2026, at Castleview Church, 8601 Hague Rd. Indianapolis, IN 46256 from 3:00 pm – 4:00pm, with a funeral service to follow visitation at the church at 4:00pm.
