Jayne Brown Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory on Feb. 20, 2026.
Jayne Ellen Brown, 85, of Indianapolis, passed away on February 18, 2026, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born on January 15, 1941, in New Castle, Indiana, the daughter of Max Goar and Martha Floyd. Jayne graduated from Jefferson High School in New Paris, Ohio. She then attended secretarial school in Elkhart, Indiana. She was career-minded and worked several secretarial jobs in Richmond, IN, before moving to Pendleton. She was later an executive assistant for the Department of Corrections, until she retired in 2003.

Jayne was a loyal and devoted friend who treasured her relationships. She loved caring for her cats, hunting for treasures at antique shops, auctions, and flea markets, and enjoyed the lighthearted thrill of playing slot machines. She was affectionately known to those close to her as "Cookie." Cookie loved deeply, and that love was warmly reciprocated by her family. She took a special interest in each of her children and grandchildren, always keeping up with their lives, interests, and activities.

Jayne is survived by her loving daughters, Kim (Wes) Ledbetter and Kristy (Nick) Miller; grandchildren, Tanna Britt, Brandon Ledbetter, Danielle (Matt) Borror, Jackson (Jaycie) Keesling, Tanner Keesling, Lilly Miller, and Walker Keesling; great grandchildren, Clay Britt, Layne Britt, Ruby Britt, Lennon Ledbetter, Bodhi Borror, Tatum Ledbetter, and Grady Ledbetter; and great great grandchildren, Payton Jones and Makel Jones. She also had a special relationship with surviving nieces, nephew, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Judith Ketron - with whom she shared a loving lifelong bond, and great granddaughter, Payton Harrison. A public visitation will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2026, 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm at The Community Room at Loose Funeral Homes, 200 West 53rd Street, Anderson, IN. A private memorial service for family members will follow visitation at 4: 00 pm in The Community Room. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Outfitters, Inc., a charity of Madison County. https://outfittersclothes.org/get-involved/
