Sandra Sue Carter, 84, of Levelland passed from this life on September 11, 2023. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, September 18, 2023, at the Krestridge Funeral Home Chapel.
Born to Paul and Elizabeth Bratcher on July 24, 1939 at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, Texas, Sandra Sue Bratcher was their first and only child. They moved to Lubbock, Texas in August of 1941. Paul enlisted in the US Army in July of 1942 Sandra lived with her mother in Lubbock until the war was over.
On April 8, 1962, Sandra was introduced to Benny Carter of Hobbs, New Mexico by her cousin. Sandra, commonly known as “Sandy”, married Benny Carter on August 25, 1962 at Northside Baptist Church in Hobbs, New Mexico. The two of them moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where Benny attended the University of New Mexico before moving to Farmington, New Mexico where they lived until 1980, at which time they moved to Levelland, Texas, where they remained.
Sandy worked for Levelland State Bank and Shugart Studios until she ultimately retired. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Levelland where she certainly enjoyed her time with the choir.
Sandy had three things that she really enjoyed: traveling around the country whether on the motor cycle, in the jeep or pulling the RV; scrapbooking and photography (or actually just pictures…..lots of pictures); and most of all, kiddos, any and all, she adored them all.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Benny Carter; sons Don Carter and wife Shelly of Laredo, Texas and Dennis Carter and wife Shanan of Levelland, Texas; grandchildren, Brittni Wilkerson of Abilene, Texas, Hunter Carter of Corpus Christi, Texas, Devin Carter of Lubbock, Texas, Kimberley Dill of Laredo, Texas, Cody Dill of New Braunfels, Texas, Wyatt Carter, Cage Carter, Kayleigh Carter, Jensen Carter, Emma Pugh, all of Levelland, Texas; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Paul Eugene Bratcher (Aug 1980) and Elizabeth Bratcher (Aug 1995).
