Mark Adrian Dixon passed quietly on Saturday morning January 3, 2026 in Lubbock, TX, at the age of 94. He was preceeded in death by his partner Martha Peabody in 2025, two brothers, Paul T Dixon and Hugh G Dixon, sister Natalie A Destafano, wife Elizabeth Crew Dixon and step-son Eric Hunt.

Mark was born in Ft Lauderdale, Florida to Ernest Paul Dixon and Geneva Seiler Dixon. He graduated from University of Florida in Gainsville, FL and obtained his post graduate degrees from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Following honorable service in the Navy, he completed his PhD research and had a long career as a geologist for several major oil companies which took him to posts in various Middle Eastern countries. He retired to Lubbock, TX and became an active member of St Stephen’s Episcopal Church, singing in the choir for many years. In recent years he was a member of St. Luke’s Levelland, TX before joining St. Christopher’s.

Mark is survived by his four children, Thomas Dixon, Millicent Dixon, Lisa Lemen, Eric Dixon, and step-son Will Hunt; his grandchildren Ceara Crawford-Dixon and Tristan Dixon and many cherished nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at St Christopher’s Episcopal Church, 2807 42nd Street, Lubbock, TX 79413 at 10:00 am Saturday January 24, 2026. Internment will be held at a later date by the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Mark’s memory to the National MS Society’s South Central Chapter.
