Sandra Cozart Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Sandra Cope Cozart, 80, of Wesley Chapel, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on October 8, 1944, Sandra was the daughter of Rev. Kenneth E. Cope and Irene Tumblin Cope Schmitt. She grew up with a strong foundation of faith and family, values she carried throughout her life.
Sandra was married to her devoted husband, Bennett O. Cozart, for 53 years. Together they raised three daughters, Nora Ortiz (Javier Ortiz), Grace Lonergan (Chuck), and Karen Cozart. She was a proud grandmother to Gabriel, Theo, Saleya, Javi Jr., Cody (Erika), and Megan, and a loving great-grandmother to Andrea and Landon. She is also survived by her brother, Kenneth Cope (Evelina). Sandra was preceded in death by her parents.
After having an in-home daycare when her twins were young, Sandra began a long and fulfilling career in the Hillsborough County School System. For several years, she worked at nursing homes as well as Walmart to fill some free time. She retired from the school system in 2011 and cherished her time caring for her husband, enjoying her grandchildren, and serving her church community.
Faith was a cornerstone of Sandra's life. She was deeply involved in the Church of Christ, where she developed curriculum and taught cradle roll classes for many years. Her life group became family and she looked forward to attending Sunday afternoons in life group. Her love of caring for others extended far beyond her family, leaving a lasting impact on many lives.
Sandra had a joyful spirit and a smile that brightened every room. She delighted in the simple pleasures of life, especially her love for cats, pumpkins, flamingos, and Disney.
A service honoring Sandra's life will be held at North Tampa Church of Christ in Lutz, Florida, on September 12, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., followed by light refreshments and visitation. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Mount Dora Children's Home.
Sandra's warm smile, steadfast faith, and generous heart will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
