Sandra K. Dunbar, age 77, of Chillicothe, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at her home.
Sandy was born on March 29, 1947 in Peoria, IL to Emil Herbert Lauber Jr. and Elizabeth Lina (Kaiser) Lauber. She married Floyd D. Dunbar on June 17, 1966 in Chillicothe. He preceded her in death on March 29, 2021. Also preceding her in death are her parents.
Surviving are her children, Bobbi Piles of Canton, IL, DeeAnn (Denis) Hambucken of Lee, NH and James (Trisha Renken) Dunbar of East Peoria, IL; five grandchildren; her siblings, Richard Lauber of Dahinda, IL and Laurel Smith of Marietta, GA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Sandy retired from Springfield Electric. She was a very active member of Chillicothe Bible Church and volunteered with their VBS, AWANA, the Quilt Club, and the Relief Committee. She loved to quilt and often gifted them to family and many of her friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her close friends, Kim Salz and Debbie Koch, and her cousin, Jerry Lauber. Sandy never knew a stranger and will be missed by all who knew her.
Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at 5:30pm at Chillicothe Bible Church with celebration following at the church. Rev. Joe Horn will officiate. Memorials may be made to Chillicothe Bible Church or to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
