Sandra Kay Emmert, 78, of Lafayette, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023.
She was born on March 30, 1945 in Lebanon, Indiana to the late Della Hale Emmert.
Sandy graduated from Lebanon Senior High School in 1963.
She went on to work for many years as a police dispatcher for the Phoenix Police Department. She left Phoenix in 1978 and returned to Lafayette to work for St. Elizabeth Hospital's Environmental Services Department. Sandra later went to work for the Indiana State Police as a dispatcher before going to work for the Lafayette Police Department as a dispatcher before retiring. She also served as a part time concierge at Westminster Village.
Sandy was a parishioner at St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
She loved music and listened to anything from Bach to Big Momma Thornton. Sandy looked forward to playing board game and vacations to the ocean, Gatlinburg, TN, and the mountains in Kentucky and Tennessee. She was also an avid reader, especially of mysteries.
She is survived by her step-daughter, Candi (Darryl) Marcum of Ohio; her siblings, Cathy (John) Owens of Noblesville, Jennifer Emmert and John (Laura) Emmert of Tipton; brother-in-law, David Miller of Lebanon; her nieces and nephews, Jason McCarthy, Jessica (Don) Altic, Jakob (Kim) Miller, and Darris Huntsman; her great nieces and nephews, Kyle Hale, Kelsey Lollar, Cheyenne Crist, Deidra (John) Winger, Dalton Michael, Kaleb Miller, Shana (Austin) Trott, and numerous more; and her great great nephews, Jordan Johnson, Nathan Johnson, Brantley Crist, Shakur Lollar, and numerous more; her cousins Nancy Kollman, Della "Pete" Baker, Linda Homeier, Rachel Buckley, Toni Border, Missie Allen, Norma Jean Kouns, and Marjorie Miller; her best friend, Patti Cox; and her good friends, the Ramirez Family, the Madden Family, and Amanda Lindberg.
Sandy would like to thank everyone above for their friendship, help, and love.
She is proceeded in death by her fiancé, Al Rhodus; her sister, Sara Miller; her brother, Steven Emmert; and her great nephew, Joey Johnson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 12:30 p.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with Father Weisenberger officiating. Visitation will be held prior to Mass from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery.
Memorial contribution can be made to Matthew 25 Soup Kitchen or Tricia's Hope Cancer Support Network in loving memory of Sandy.
