Sandra (Sandy) Lee Fleischer, 78, of Stanley, NC went to be with the Lord on July 12, 2023.
Sandy was born in Reading, PA on November 17, 1944 to the late Judson B. Severns and Margaret Blankenbiller Severns. Along with her parents, Sandy is preceded in death by her sisters, June Severns Jackson, Madge Severns Craig, and Beverly Severns Hartzell, and her brother, J. Stuart Severns.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Michael R. Fleischer, daughters Wendy Naylor (Stephen) and Kimberly Nichols, and granddaughters Marina, Savannah, and Tessa Nichols.
In addition to being the most wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, Sandy spent her life in the service of children and the underprivileged. While living in Garden Grove, CA she served as Girl Scout troop leader, room mother, Anderson School PTA President, and eventually served as Westminster School District PTA President, overseeing 17 school PTA groups; in Santa Ynez, CA she was a member of the PTO, Girl Scout troop leader, and finally College School District School Board Member. For several years, she worked as a local director for Big Brother Big Sister, and eventually as Executive Director for Operation Outreach, a Christian non-profit providing food, clothing, furniture, and other assistance to those in need. Over the years, as a stay-at-home Mom, she would provide after school care as needed for children of friends who worked, and effortlessly created a loving home environment that welcomed everyone. Sandy had a strong faith and lived it every day of her life.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held August 20, 2023 at 2 pm at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, 16901 Old Statesville Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078. The service will be livestreamed and may be viewed below or by clicking LIVESTREAM.
