Sandra Jean Gartley, of Altha, a beloved member of her community, passed away suddenly on January 23, 2026, in Blountstown, Florida. She was born on January 31, 1951, in Shreveport, Louisiana, and lived a life filled with love, commitment, and resilience.
Throughout her career, Jean made her mark as a truck driver, a profession that exemplified her strong work ethic and dedication. Her passion for the open road and her commitment to her job were evident to all who knew her.
Jean will be remembered not only for her professional life but also for her deep connection to her faith, she was attending Altha Church of God. This community provided her with support and companionship, and it was a place where she found solace and strength.
An avid reader and skilled crocheter, she found joy in spending time with her family and cultivating her yard, where she took great pride in her flowers. Her green thumb was a testament to her nurturing spirit, as she poured love into both her plants and her loved ones.
Jean is survived by her sons, Robby Adkins and his wife Shirelle, and Mike Boswell and his wife Anna; her daughter, Shelly Garrett and her husband Donald; and her sister, Jane Hillis and her husband Clark, along with Kay Thomas. She also leaves behind a legacy of love in her grandchildren: Shana, April, Logan, Kacie, Taryn, Madison, Wyatt, Trace, Bentley, and Tiffany. The joys of her life also included her great-grandchildren, Haley, Josiah, Miliani, Nova, Alex, Talia, and Olivia; her great-great-grandchildren, Cain and Cami and was blessed with nephews, Tommy, Richie, Rusty, Levi, Stormy, Devan, Brennan and Dylan and nieces Christie, Jodie, Lacey and Missy.
She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her, and her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of her family. Jean is preceded in death by her parents, John Schaal and Reba Fae Woodbridge, and her brother, Ronnie Schaal. Her life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, hard work, and passion, leaving an indelible mark on those lucky enough to have shared their journey with her.
A memorial honoring Jean's life will be held at Adams Funeral Home Chapel 5:30 PM Friday February 6, 2026. All are invited to attend.
