Sandra Kay Gauze, 80, loving wife of the late James L. Gauze, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025 at home surrounded by her loved ones in Georgetown, Kentucky. Born January 29, 1945, in Charleston, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Geneva Skaggs.
Sandra and her husband were owners of a mining supply store. Her biggest job was being an amazing mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a lifelong UK basketball and Pittsburg Steeler fan.
She will be remembered by her sister, Joyce Nuckolas; children Kimberly Dawn (Mark) Webb, Donna M. (Kirby, deceased) Cornett, Marsha A. Gauze, and James A. (Jennifer) Gauze; son-in-law Jason Gibson; grandchildren David (Emma) Gauze, Mikayla (John) Harper, and Nathan Lynn Gauze; great grandchildren Caroline Todd Gauze, Owen James Gauze; and a host of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter Melinda Gibson; brother Bobby Monroe Skaggs; sisters Angela Lancaster and Elizabeth Schwarts.
Visitation will be conducted from 11:00am to 1:00pm pm on Saturday, April 19, 2025, with a funeral service to follow at 1:00pm at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home. The burial will take place following the service at Georgetown Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Mikayla Harper, David Gauze, Nathan Gauze, James Gauze, Kaleb Cornett and John Harper. Friends and family are encouraged to leave messages of condolences and share memories here on Sandra's tribute wall.
