Sandra Marie George was born August 22, 1943, in Wilkinsburg, PA to Velma and Herman Daugherty. "Sandy" was their youngest daughter and graduated in June 1962 from Wilkinsburg High School. Sandy worked as an OB Tech at several hospitals until moving to Colorado Springs in the summer of 1973. She joined the St. Francis Hospital team where she met her beloved husband, Tom George. During their 43 years of marriage, they loved traveling, hosting parties, and often camped in the beautiful Colorado Rockies. Sandy earned her Bachelor of Science in Business in May 2002. She proudly worked for Centura Health, ITT and Schriever Air Force Base in IT Technologies. After retirement, she was a social butterfly that enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Sandy loved to do crafts and made beautiful needlepoints for her family. She discovered jewel art a few years ago and crafted pictures for her friends for every holiday.
Sandy was age 81 on January 16, 2025 when she passed peacefully after a courageous 12 year battle with cancer. Her strength and enduring spirit were an inspiration for those that knew her. Sandy was proceeded in death by her husband Tom George and her son Donald Bower. She is survived by her children, Christine Swanson, Roy Bower and Kathleen Colflesh and her stepdaughters, Kathy Fisher and Kimberly Massen. Her 17 grandchildren Brian, Eric, Michelle, Jesse, Brandon, Christopher, Ashley, Sid, Steven, Cody, Carissa, Tanner, Tia, Matthew, Brittany, Rebecca and Scott and 20 great grandchildren.
