Sandra Kay Godwin

 

Sandra Kay Godwin, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on November 30, 2023, at the age of 78 in Merit, Texas. Born on January 19, 1945, in McKinney to Blaine and Helen Hall, Sandra was a member of the First Baptist Church of Princeton at the time of her death and had attended church all her life. She gave her life to Jesus as a young girl and never strayed from her Christian faith.

She was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of everyone she met with her kind and compassionate nature.

Sandra's journey in life was filled with love and dedication. After completing her education at McKinney High School, she embarked on a fulfilling career as a secretary most of her life and retired as the Victims Assistance Secretary for Collin County.

Her commitment to helping others was unparalleled, and her diligent work brought immense comfort and support to countless individuals during their most challenging times.

But Sandra's impact extended far beyond her professional accomplishments. She possessed a great big heart and had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel special in their own way. With warmth and sincerity, she welcomed strangers as friends and embraced every person she encountered with genuine love and understanding.

In her leisure time, Sandra found joy in simple pleasures and treasured moments spent with her family. She loved nothing more than traveling to attend all of her grandchildren's games, including out-of-town tournaments. Cheering from the sidelines, she became their greatest supporter and source of encouragement.

Sandra had a variety of hobbies that brought her immense happiness. From sewing to gardening and engaging in long heartfelt conversations with loved ones, she always found fulfillment in these simple yet meaningful activities. Moreover, Sandra relished vacations spent at the beaches of Florida and Nashville, Tennessee. Additionally,
she had an adventurous spirit and a passion for dirt track racing; it is worth noting that she even participated in the Powder Puff race at Princeton Speedway in her youth.

Among Sandra's proudest accomplishments were being honored with the Tiger Tracker Booster Club Award and being a member of the Red Hat Society. She thrived in these affiliations where she could contribute positively to her community and build lasting relationships.

Sandra is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Glenn Godwin, who cherished their life together. She also leaves behind her loving children Loriann Brixey and her husband Jeff, Rodney Godwin and his wife Tammy, and Misti Cook and her husband Doug. Sandra's memory will forever be treasured by her grandchildren: Trent Godwin and his wife Tamara, Scarlett Westbrook and her husband Joe, Hannah Jackson and her husband Brooks, Brayton Godwin, Savannah Humphrey and her husband Matt, Wyatt Cook and his wife Kenzie, and Channing Godwin and his girlfriend Aly. Great-granddaughters Allysen Godwin, Zoey Godwin, Sutton Godwin, Kynslee Westbrook, Emma Jo Westbrook, and Mattie Humphrey; great-grandson Graham Jackson. She was also a dear sister to Ann Redden and sister-in-law to Larry and Sandra Abbott. Sandra's memory lives on in the hearts of numerous nieces and nephews whom she held close.

Sandra is preceded in death by her parents Blaine and Helen Hall, her parents-in-law Ed Godwin and Pansy Rountree, brother Jerry Hall, brother-in-law Doug Redden, nephew Terry Redden, and Two great nephews.

Sandra Kay Godwin was a remarkable woman who deeply touched the lives of others with her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love. Her legacy of compassion and generosity will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in eternal peace knowing that she made this world a brighter place with her beautiful spirit.
