Sandra S. “Sandy” Groff, 78, of Strasburg, passed away on February 22, 2026. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Samuel S. and Esther G. (Harner) Shaub. She was also the loving wife to Michael Groff for 51 years until his passing in 2019.
After graduating from Lampeter-Strasburg High School, Sandy received her professional certification at beauty school, which she utilized as a hairdresser. However, she also spent much of her later years as a cafeteria worker across the Lampeter-Strasburg school district, a job she took great pride in. Outside of work, she was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and the Strasburg Fire Co. Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed birdwatching, bowling, and spending time with her family.
Sandy is survived by her children, Michelle Charleson (Jonathan Potts), Jeffrey (Connie) Groff, and Brian (Sherri) Groff; sisters Becky (Michael) Perry and Pam (Jim) Rice; and 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
The family would like to give a special thank-you to the nurses at Hospice and Community Care for their kindness and compassion. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sandy’s name may be made to Hospice and Community Care at 685 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17601 or hospiceandcommunitycare.org.
