Sandra Kaye Laster

Sandra Douthit Laster, affectionately known as Sandy, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2025, at Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville, NC. She was 71 years old. She was born on January 14, 1954 at St. Joseph Hospital in Asheville, NC to the late Oliver Monroe Douthit and Margaret Barnwell Douthit of Black Mountain, NC.
Sandy dedicated 17 years of her life to Pardee Hospital, where she worked as a Respiratory Therapist. During her time at Pardee, Sandy was known for her expertise and unwavering compassion towards her patients. Her dedication to her profession and her patients left a lasting impact on the Pardee community.
Sandy is survived by her dear son, Michael Laster, and her daughter, Rebecca James; sisters, Wanda Hill of Flat Rock, NC and Betty Ann Champion of Swannanoa, NC and many friends who will miss her dearly. Her warmth and kindness touched the lives of those around her.
In accordance with Sandy's wishes, no services are planned at this time. Her family invites those who knew her to remember her in their own special way.
