Sandra Laughner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Day & Genda Funeral Home - Frankfort Chapel on Jun. 23, 2025.

Sandra L. Laughner, 85, of Frankfort, passed peacefully away Monday morning, June 23, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born July 10, 1939, Sandy was the daughter of Forest L. and Fern V. (Rude) Brunton. After graduating from Colfax High School, she married Larry L. Laughner on September 15, 1957, and he survives.

Sandy enjoyed the opportunity to be a homemaker and be at home to raise their two daughters. In 1974, she also began serving as a clerk for Union Township Trustee, which she did until 2019. She had also been a member of Kilmore United Methodist Church for more than 50 years. Sandy had a passion for taking pictures and for cats. But nothing surpassed her love for her family, which she loved spending time with and making memories.

Sandy will be greatly missed by her husband of 67 years; their daughters, Janet (husband, Joe) Mitchell of Indianapolis, and DeAnna (husband, David) Strange of Frankfort; and grandchildren, Beth (husband, Mike) McCoy, Lydia (husband, Josh) Gross, Katie (husband, Sam) Bryant, A.J. (wife, Chelsea) Strange, and Rick (wife, Samantha) Strange; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 30, 2025, from 10am until the start of the service at 12pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, with Pastor Craig Overman officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery. Memorials in Sandy’s honor may be made to Kilmore United Methodist Church. Messages of condolence to the family are welcomed at www.dayandgenda.com.
