Sandra Y. Leftwich

Sandra Youkilis Leftwich, age 84, passed away peacefully at home on November 15, 2024. She was the daughter of Ben and Rose Youkilis, beloved wife of the late Howard M. Leftwich, devoted mother of Jeff (Jennifer) Leftwich and Julie (Michael Thomas) Leftwich, loving grandmother of Connor, Sara, and Galen Leftwich, and Stefan Arostegui.
Born and raised in Cincinnati, Sandy graduated from Walnut Hills High School in 1958 and earned a degree in medical technology from the University of Cincinnati in 1962. After graduating she worked at General Hospital in Dr. Helen Glueck's coagulation lab, where she became Head Technologist. In 1968 she retired from Dr. Glueck's lab to marry Howard. After ten years and two children she returned to Dr. Glueck's lab. Ahead of her time, in the 1980s Sandy decided to study computers and make a career change. She became a computer analyst in the lab data center at University Hospital, formerly General Hospital. She then went to work at Jewish Hospital, which became the Health Alliance and ultimately Mercy Health. She retired in 2004, although she continued to do consulting work for the hospitals for several years.
Sandy was fortunate to have many good friends, several of whom she grew up with. She was loved and will be missed.
Services will be held Monday, November 18 at 1:30 PM at Weil Kahn Funeral Home, 8350 Cornell Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45249. Visitation begins at 12:30 PM. Services will be LIVESTREAMED https://webcast.funeralvue.com/events/embed_viewer/106621. Burial will follow at United Jewish Cemetery Montgomery, 7885 Ivygate Ln Montgomery, OH 45242. Shiva will be observed Monday, November 18, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM, with minyan at 7:00 PM at the Leftwich home.
