Sandra E. Maroszek (nee Wonders) joined the love of her life and husband of 45 years, Gill, on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at age 80.
Sandra was born on August 13, 1943, in Milwaukee WI to Helen and John Wonders, then moved to Merton, WI where her parents ran the John Wonders Inn, a tavern. She graduated in 1961 from Arrowhead High School and then went onto Cosmetology School, briefly working as a stylist. When she landed a job as a Control Clerk for JC Penny's, her father teased that she wouldn't last a week. Determined to prove him wrong, she vowed to stay for 2 whole weeks. 35 years later, she retired, with pension, from JC Penny's.
Sandra effortlessly charmed everyone with her magnetic personality and exceptional listening skills. Whether two days or two years had passed since their last encounter, she always remembered intricate details and took genuine interest in the well-being of their loved ones. Her vibrant style and contagious humor were both impossible to overlook and utterly irresistible, allowing her to command any room she entered. Sandra was Merton-Famous for her renowned formal parties, catering to over 60 guests – cooking it all, and serving each person with flair.
In addition to hosting gatherings, Sandra loved shopping, traveling, God, and mostly, spending time with her precious husband Gill and son John, whom she cherished and lavished with love.
Sandra is survived by her son John Wonders and his wife Carolyn, and grandchildren Sydney and Jordan. She was preceded in death by her husband Gill.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt acknowledgment to both Arbor View Assisted Living in Pewaukee, WI, who accepted Sandra with open hearts and who skillfully cared for her, kept her safe, and loved her when she was so vulnerable. We are forever grateful to you all. You cannot imagine the impact you have had on us witnessing your deep commitment to excellent care.
The family would also like to acknowledge Heritage Assisted Living in Muskego, WI for the exceptional care of not only Sandra but for supporting us, too, and doing right by your residents. Your staff's spunk and hard work was always evident. When the snowstorm put you without power for 4 days we were not concerned. We knew mom was in good hands. Thank you.
Visitation will be held at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, Wisconsin on Friday, February 9, 2024, from 4:00 PM – 5:45 PM. Celebration of Life at 6:00 PM.
The family requests that guests wear something sparkly to honor Sandra's sparkling personality!
