Sandra McKean Martin was born in Glastonbury, CT on June 23, 1940. Sandy was a proud military widow of her husband of 48 years, Lowell Lee Martin. She is survived by her loving children, Laura Martin Ashburn, Ken Martin and Tom Martin, her grandson, Ian Martin and great granddaughter, Harper Lynne Martin. Her surviving siblings are Susan Marion and Judd McKean. Her nephews are Matthew Smallwood and Chris Marion, a great nephew, Alex Smallwood and great nieces Elizabeth Smallwood and Grayson Marion.  She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Robert Martin (Emily) and Alan Marion and sister-in-law Judy McKean.

Sandy was an incredibly loving mother and best friend to her adult children, giving loving and sound advice when asked.

Sandy had many interests and talents to include breeding and showing miniature horses, photography, woodworking, carving, quilting, needlepoint, and crocheting. She painted with acrylics and watercolors. She had interest in clock making, ceramics, scrapbooking and carved some beautiful carvings.  Sandy had a great adoration for Pekingese dogs ever since they got their first puppy in 1961.  She always had a bird chirping happily in her home.

Her biggest passion was her recovery community. Sandy showed much compassion and kindness, helping many women and men alike.

She loved Alcoholics Anonymous and had 39 years and 2 days of sobriety, 14,237 days, one day at a time.

Our Mom will be missed until the day we meet in Heaven.

A Gathering of Friends and Family will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Wells Events and Reception Center.  A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 p.m.
