Sandra Mata

Sandra Lynn “Sandy” Mata, age 73, of Appleton, passed away on November 22, 2017. Sandra was born on February 26, 1944 in Chicago Illinois to Raymond and Verna (Borger) Pascoe. She was a graduate of John Adams High School in South Bend Indiana. She attended college to study nursing and worked as a CNA for many years, retiring in 2016. She also worked as an Appleton Area Crossing Guard for 30 years. Sandy loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a very generous and giving woman and was also known for giving the “Best Hugs Ever”. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and doing crossword puzzles. She will be sadly missed by her children: Julie Mata of Appleton, Charles Mata of Chicago, and Christopher Mata of Milwaukee, 5 grandchildren: Zachary, Jacob, McKayla, Rebecca and Austin, 2 sisters and their spouses: Wendy (Calvin) Opperman and Raeverne (Gerald) Martin as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. At Sandy’s request, private services will be held. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Appleton.
