Sandra M. Mezzo

Naugatuck, CT Sandra Mae (Starziski) Mezzo, 83, died peacefully December 16, 2023 at Beacon Brook Health Center.
Sandra was born September 1, 1940 in Naugatuck, CT a daughter of the late Joseph Starziski and Augusta (Rader) Starziski Schooley. Sandra attended Naugatuck Public Schools and graduated from Naugatuck High School, Class of 1958. She worked for 25 years as an Educational Paraprofessional for the Naugatuck Board of Education, before retiring in 2005. In 2013, Sandra was honored to have received the Naugatuck Fraternal Order of Eagles Mother of the Year Award.
Sandra was an avid Red Sox fan, she loved animals and she enjoyed crocheting, crafting, playing cards, bird watching and decorating for the holidays. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Sandra is survived by her son and daughter in law, Robert and Eileen Mezzo; her grandchildren, Alexandra Mezzo, John Mezzo and James Mezzo all of Naugatuck; her sister-in-law, Rita Starziski; nephews and nieces, Dan, Len, Tom, Allison, Janice and Bill. In addition to her parents, Sandra was predeceased by her brothers, Donald Starziski and Charles Starziski.

A Funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00am at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers and to honor Sandra's memory, donations are requested to United Way of Naugatuck and Beacon Falls, 270 Church Street, Naugatuck, CT 06770.
