Sandra Midgley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Palmer Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes - Lansing Chapel on Jul. 25, 2024.
Sandy Midgley's Spirit left her body on July 20, 2024, where it was joined with her Lord Jesus Christ. She was born June 9, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan to Russell and Frances Lipke.
Sandy graduated from Denby High School in Detroit where she first met the person who would become her husband, Jack Midgley. Their romance bloomed as they both attended Michigan State University. After working for GM for Chevrolet Truck Division in Detroit Sandy married Jack on September 7, 1963, and returned to MSU where she became the Administrative Secretary to the Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine. She had her first child, a daughter, and decided to become a full-time mom. She later had two sons.
Sandy's family joined Bethlehem Lutheran Church in 1970 and she immediately became involved with the Sunday School. From there she served as the Congregational Secretary, was a member of both the Board of Deacons (Worship Life) and the Church Council, and also served families through the Food Pantry for over 30 years.
Sandy was a teacher of aerobic dance, working for both the Lansing and Waverly Schools as well as for the Sheraton Hotel. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels. A Spartan fan all her adult life, she and Jack held season tickets for Spartan football for 50 years.
Sandy is survived by her husband, Jack, her three children: Cindy (Matt) Marsh, Chris Midgley, and Andrew (Kim) Midgley and four grandchildren: Jacob, Nick, Nathan, and Allyson.
The family is very appreciative of the entire staff at Hospice of Lansing Stoneleigh Residence for the extremely kind and caring way in which they cared for Sandy for the last seven weeks of her life. There are way too many people to list.
A Memorial Service will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 549 E. Mt. Hope, Lansing, MI on Thursday, August 8 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive visitors beginning at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation by way of check to Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church Endowment Fund or online to Hospice of Lansing Stoneleigh Residence.
