Sandra Jo Monette passed away August 30th at the age of 89. Born July 28th, Sandy was a lifelong Michigander, a teenage polio survivor, a Visitation grad (Visi girl), devoted to Lake Chemung in her youth and retirement as a resident, she truly loved the lake. In more recent years, she resided at Brookdale in Brighton where she enjoyed playing pool, puzzles and cards with many friends that she had there. She loved a good euchre game and enjoyed Sunday dinners at her daughter Nancy's house. Sandy was predeceased by her husband of 62 yrs Patrick in 2018 and her brother Edward Hooker. Sandy is survived by her sister June Creighton, her six children Mary Kay (Mark Golden), Mark (Anne Marie), Mike (Tracey), Bob (Karen), Brian (Yuka) and Nancy (Jack Teegardin). Seven grandchildren Jason, Jenny, Christine, Brian, Joshua, Lauren and Taylor. Seven great grandchildren Sophie, Miya, Ben, Max, Milly, Calvin and Ren. Sister in laws Elaine Hooker, Lorraine Monette and Sharon Head, numerous nieces and nephews.
A mass in her memory will be held September 13th at 11:00 a.m. (visitation 10:00 to 11:00 am) at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 E. Washington, Howell.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to Sandy's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or any worthy charity you may prefer, would be appreciated.
A life well lived, loved by many, she will be truly missed. Rest in peace.
