Sandra Piszkiewicz Obituary

Sandra L. Piszkiewicz, age 75, of Spring Grove, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Good Shepherd Hospital, Barrington, surrounded by her loving family. Sandy was born on Thursday, November 3, 1949, to Angelo and Josephine (Currire) Virgilio.

Sandy graduated from Notre Dame High School for Girls, class of 1967, and continued her education at the University of Illinois Chicago, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Communication Design. On October 20, 1973, Sandy married the love of her life, Frederick Piszkiewicz. The two first met at a going-away party while playing pinochle, and their relationship began through heartfelt letters exchanged in the early 1970s. They built their life together, raising their three children in Niles and Arlington Heights before eventually settling in Spring Grove in 2019. Sandy held a variety of jobs throughout her life - from working at Marshall Field's to Cardinal Health and volunteered at her church and in her children's activities growing up. She had a true zest for life and loved to celebrate, often planning elaborate parties and memorable trips, including trips to Hawaii, Alaska, St. Thomas and, most recently, Costa Rica. Always up for adventure, Sandy, at the age of 73, went zip-lining while in Costa Rica. Sandy was also an avid gardener and a remarkable cook, constantly exploring new recipes while mastering timeless classics. Her warmth and enthusiasm brought joy to every gathering, big and small. A devoted wife and mother, cherished Grammie and Grandma, loyal daughter, and a true friend to many- Sandy will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Fred; son Marc (Nicole) Piszkiewicz; daughters, Laura (Eric) Taubery, Stephanie Piszkiewicz; mother, Josephine; grandchildren, Zachary, Addison, Riley, Pierce; siblings, Anthony (Debbie) Virgilio, Louise (Jack) McCall, Janice (Patrick) Keating, Susan (Peter) Bushey, Angela (Patrick) Burba; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded by her father, Angelo.
