Sandra Kay "Husen" Rogers

Sandra Kay (Husen) Rogers, age 78, went to be with the Lord on February 24, 2026. She was born on April 28, 1947, to Paul and Irene (Doninowski) Husen.

Sandra moved to DeTour Village, Michigan, in 1970 with her husband, Wesley "Wes", and two small children. Sandra spent a lot of her years waitressing/hosting and raising her children. Sandra and Wes were the owner/operators of Gulls Nest and Gulls Landing restaurants in DeTour Village for many years. She also helped run the DeTour Water Department with her husband, Wes. During Desert Shield, Sandra worked for Pinkerton Security locally in the Eastern Upper Peninsula. In the mid 90's, they moved to Sault Ste Marie, Michigan, where Sandra worked for the Ojibway Hotel and Freighters Restaurant until she and Wes started running the Parkway Hotel. Sandra finished her career and retired at Madigan Pingatore Insurance Agency.

Sandra was a member of the DeTour Homemakers, DeTour Ambulance Corp and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in DeTour Village. She enjoyed traveling, reading and crocheting.

Sandra is survived by her husband of sixty years, Wesley E. Rogers; sister, Judith (Gary) Besaw; sister-in-law, Maureen (Jerry) Schopp; children, Jon (Barb) Rogers, Paula (Jeff) Bosley, and Melanie (Randy) MacDowell; grandchildren, Emily Bosley, Scott Bosley, Tiffany (Kaleb) Roe, Taylor (Bryan) Nelson, Trista MacDowell, and Trenton (Lane) MacDowell; and great-grandchildren, Jackson and Jordyn Roe.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Irene.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring of 2026.
