Sandra "Sandy" Knight Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 2 to Jan. 5, 2024.
Jan 1, 2024 Sandra "Sandy" Knight went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on 01/01/2024. In 2019 she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and lived until 2021 with her daughter and son-in-law in Colorado. In May 2021, her family made the decision, due to a major decline in cognition, to move her to Alaska and into Opus Memoria where she lived out her final years until 12/25/23 when she was admitted to Providence Hospital in Anchorage, AK after having multiple seizures and never recovered.

Although Sandy didn't know where she was, she was living her best life in Opus. The care and love she received in that home, exceeded anything she had experienced in her well life. Sandy was adored and expertly cared for by the staff at Opus and when she entered the hospital. When it became obvious that she would not recover, those Opus angels came to the hospital to see her and say goodbye. After 7 long days in Providence (where the care was far above our expectations) she let go and went home to be with the Lord.

She proudly shared about her time working for the FBI. She loved to make people in her home believe that she was an agent. Always the jokester. In her later years, she enjoyed a 16 year career working for Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC as a staff assistant in the pathology department. The pranks she and the doctors played on one another were some of her best stories she told after retirement. Joking was her love language. If she couldn't make you laugh, she was sad.

Sandy is survived by her daughter Leigh Ann Woznica and son-in-law Tyler Woznica and her grand-daughter Bekka Page. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Earl and Margie Snipes, her brother Eddie Snipes, and her husband John Knight.

She will be cremated and returned to NC to be buried in her family plot.

Leigh Ann and Tyler, Sandy was a spark of life at Opus and loved to dance, sing and make us all laugh. She will be missed but never forgotten. She is our angel up in Heaven now
