Sandra Shirley Schade, affectionately known as Sandy, passed away peacefully late in the evening of August 29, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on December 23, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, Sandy lived a life defined by compassion, warmth, and a generous spirit that touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She is survived by her beloved sister, Carol Finley, as well as her cherished niece and nephews: Jeannine Kim and her husband Rich, John Finley and his wife Kathleen, Jeff Finley and his wife Lawrence, and Jason Finley and his wife Deana. Sandy's legacy also lives on through her five great-nephews, three great-nieces, two great-great-nephews, and two great-great-nieces. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Henry F. Schade and Jeanette Schade.
Sandy will be remembered most vividly by her family for her unwavering kindness, quick wit, and legendary baking. Her sweet treats were a staple at every family gathering, with her kolachkis being the highlight - and the source of many playful squabbles over the last one on the plate.
An ardent animal lover, Sandy's compassion extended beyond humans. Over the years, she rescued several dogs and even took in a guinea pig she found running loose in the alley behind her house - a story that still makes the family smile.
A small graveside service will be held to honor her life on Saturday, September 6th at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Cemetery, located at 87th Street & S Hamlin Ave, Evergreen Park, IL 60805.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to The Humane Society or a charity of your choice, in honor of Sandy's lifelong love for animals.
She leaves behind a family who will forever treasure her memory, her laughter, and her sweet tooth - and who will always save a special place at the table for a plate of kolachkis in her honor.

You could always tell how loving you were just off the small things you would do. Although we met in the late stages of your life you were awesome Sandy. Gonna miss seeing you. I´m glad o. My last day I said see you later
