Sandra Jean Simmons Scoles, 74, of Old Fort, passed away Saturday evening, February 24, 2024 at Mission Hospital McDowell.
A native of McDowell County, she was born January 25, 1950 to the late John Robert Simmons and Betty Jean Griggs Hripto. Sandra’s family always came first in her life. Her grandchildren were her world, and she had a special place in her heart for her great grandchildren. She was an animal lover who also enjoyed the beauty of the beach. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, James Scoles; one son, Keith Scoles (Michelle); five grandchildren, Dalton Scoles (Kaylie), Dustin Scoles (Kayla), Tyler Scoles (Marie), Tara Scoles (Eric), and Tucker Scoles (Emma); four great grandchildren, Easton, Myla, Taylen, and Ryder with one more, Hudson, on the way; her sister, Tammy Whitson; special cousin, Toni Freeman; and special friends, Kim Clark, Connie McFalls, Brenda Bryant, and Carol Harris.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Pastor Nick Kelly officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m.
